SJP Gives First Hints About Kim Cattrall's 'AJLT' Cameo
Kim Cattrall celebrated Pride by confirming that she will reprise her role as Samantha Jones for the Season 2 finale of And Just Like That. Sure, she's only going to appear in one scene; and yeah, she reportedly shot her cameo without so much as breathing the same air as Sarah Jessica Parker and showrunner Michael Patrick King (not to mention the rest of the cast). But still. She's back. Which begs the question: How did SJP and the powers that be make this non-reunion reunion happen?

Speaking with TVLine, Parker said it was "just an idea" that she and King discussed with the studio. "...It was this very opportune moment in a very specific story in a sort of consequential moment in Carrie’s life," she added, giving the first hint at what fans can expect from the scene (aside from the fact that it will take place over the phone). She also confirmed that Samantha will feature in other parts of the season "in text form," as she did in Season 1 of the series.

"It just seemed a really nice way of acknowledging the 25 years of the show," Parker said. "And I’m sorry that [the news] leaked, but it’s just this really nice, quick little phone call that just feels so normal ...[it] is a perfect portrait of the longevity of that friendship and what it means, and the ease in which it exists."
King seemed a little more miffed by the leak. "I am very unhappy about the fact that you’re not gonna be surprised when Carrie lifts up her phone and sees it’s Samantha calling," he told TV Line. But on the subject of how it all came together, he kept a pretty laid-back attitude.
"...I don’t know what happened," he said. "Some kind of fan magic? Some kind of show-business magic? I’m surprised by it as well. ...Something manifested from somewhere, and all of a sudden I got to have Samatha and Carrie in a scene together."
What's he willing to share beyond that? “Enjoy."
Oh, honey. We will.
