Sketches of Meghan Markle's Wedding Dress
One of the most highly anticipated moments ofPrince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding was the bride's dress. There were rumors for months about what it would look like, and who it would be designed by, but the closely guarded secret was not revealed until Markle stepped out of the car in front of St. George's Chapel.
After sharing the news yesterday that Markle's stunning bateau-neckline gown was created by Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy, Kensington Palace is now releasing the British designer's sketch of the dress:
The palace also released a sketch of Markle's beautiful veil, which, too, was designed by Waight Keller and features "the distinctive flora of all 53 Commonwealth countries united in one spectacular floral composition."
According to Kensington Palace, "Ms. Markle expressed the wish of having all 53 countries of the Commonwealth with her on her journey through the ceremony."
In addition to the flowers of the Commonwealth nation, the veil also featured Wintersweet, which grows in front of Nottingham Cottage, where Meghan and Harry live, and the California Poppy in a nod to the place of her birth.
Markle met with Waight Keller in early 2018 to design the dress. She was chosen for "her timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour."
Kensington Palace also shared that the bride "wanted to highlight the success of a leading British talent who has now served as the creative head of three globally influential fashion houses – Pringle of Scotland, Chloé, and now Givenchy."
