There are some situations in life that your mom never prepared you for. As one woman found out in the harshest way possible when she found a skunk in her apartment. A skunk! She had no idea how to get the skunk out of there and documented the whole terrifying process of trying to figure it out.

By the looks of it the skunk waltzed right into Vinny's apartment and made itself at home.

The little guy snuck into Vinny's apartment when she was feeding her cats. To say that she was a little scared is an understatement.

"I'm like freaking out," she said from behind the camera. "What am I supposed to do? How am I going to get him out?" she wondered.

The skunk kept walking around her living room. And at one point she was really afraid that he was going to spray.

"I don't know what to do to get him out of my apartment you guys," she said.

People in the comments section had a lot of suggestions. "Open the door, put food outside and whatever you do, don't scare it!" one person warned. "That is a very valid freak out. Animal control and hide," someone else suggested. "That stomping thing is him warning you," a third person urged.

Vinny later posted a second video where she shared that eventually the skunk did leave. Unfortunately, there was a whole family of skunks out there with him. Truly a thing of nightmares.

What to Do When Skunks Spray

No one wants to get sprayed by a skunk. And most people don't know what to do if it does happen. There's the old wives tale that you should bathe in tomato sauce to get rid of the scent. Unfortunately that seems to be a myth. It's not clear where that myth comes from although it might be the result of olfactory fatigue. Meaning that after you try tomato sauce you might become used to the scent of skunk and not notice it as much.

What will work is to mix one quart of three percent (household strength) hydrogen peroxide, one-fourth cup baking soda, one teaspoonful of liquid dish detergent. To really work, the mixture needs to be used directly after its made. Let it sit for five minutes, rinse, and then repeat as needed. Just make sure to not to get any in your eyes or mouth.

Getting skunked is not fun. Thankfully, the smell could go away on its own with time.
