The Quinta da Pacheca Estate in Douro, Portugal is unlike any vineyard experience out there and here's why: You can sleep in giant-sized wine barrels just steps from the grounds' 116-year-old vines. In addition to their on-site hotel, property owners Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gon?alves designed the 270-square-foot barrel rooms as an added luxury. And that they are.

Situated on nearly 140 acres, the wine barrel guest rooms are equipped with a whole host of amenities, including private bathrooms, modern fixtures, a walk-in shower, a large round bed, a skylight, a private terrace, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning, Metro reports. "Quinta da Pacheca created the wine barrels as a bold architectural project of suites to reinforce the originality of the wine tourism offered at the site," a representative for the vineyard said. "In an idyllic romantic setting, these wine barrel rooms will provide visitors a unique experience to the nature and significance of the Douro wine region."

Bottles of red, white, and rosé are stored in an 18th century house, while 15 wine-making facilities are also located across Pereira and do Céu Gon?alves' land. According to Food and Wine, the barrel rooms typically book for $286 USD a night. However, the Wine House Hotel offers more affordable overnight options. The restaurant-of the same name-serves an entire menu of traditional Portuguese dishes created by Chef Carlos Pires.
