Will Smith Trolls Everyone Waiting for His 'Official Statement'

Will Smith is not quite ready to make an official statement on his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's recent separation confession—but the actor is still having some fun with all of the media attention.
Almost a week after Pinkett Smith dropped the major bombshell about the couple—who have apparently been separated since 2016—the King Richard star is doing his best to make light of all the recent press surrounding their personal relationship.
In a new Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Oct. 17, Smith offered his followers a little bit of clickbait, as he used the caption, "OFFICIAL STATEMENT," to go along with a new video.
But upon actually watching the clip, fans can figure out that the video contains no such statement, and instead just teases viewers as Smith says, "Here's the thing..."
"My opinion...of the..." he stammers, before cutting himself off and pretending to sneeze.
While letting out an "achoo" into his elbow, the 55-year-old film star then transports the audience somewhere else as the video footage switches away from Smith himself, and zooms out to show trippy, colorful images of the earth while music blares in the background.
"This is the only correct opinion!" one of his followers sarcastically wrote under the post, while someone else commented, "Needed you to weigh in with this opinion. It’s on point!"
"always good to zoom out and look at the big picture !" another user quipped, as one commenter called Smith's little prank a "genius" way to handle the ongoing situation.
In case you missed it, Smith and Pinkett Smith—who have been legally married since 1997—became the talk of the town last week after the actress revealed that they secretly split up seven years ago, noting that the spouses were living completely "separate lives" during the infamous 2022 Oscars slap.
In Pinkett Smith's shocking interview with Hoda Kotb to promote her new memoir, Worthy, the Red Table Talk alum, 52, admitted that she and Smith became "exhausted with trying" to save their marriage back in 2016.
"I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be," she stated.
Smith later broke his silence on the matter, speaking out on Instagram to let his followers know that he'd be keeping his "notifications off" for the time being.
