A Snow Tubing Park Is Opening Next Fall Just Outside of Tampa, Florida
Florida beaches. Florida lakes. Florida hiking trails. Florida snow tubing.
Which one doesn't belong? Actually, all of the above do, as Florida is getting its first and only alpine snow park, Snowcat Ridge, scheduled to open this coming November. Located in Dade City, Florida—about 45 minutes Northeast of Tampa—the park will have a 60-foot-tall and 400-foot-long snow tubing hill, an Alpine Village, and a 10,000-square-foot snow play dome. In the dome, guests will have the chance to build snowmen and snow castles with real snow, and tiny tourists can enjoy tubing down the miniature hill. The park's Alpine Village, will prove a welcome place to relax, eat, shop, and participate in other activities between jaunts on the snow tubing hill and spending time in the snow play dome.
The park's pièce de résistance, though, is its giant snow tubing hill, where after riding the "magic carpet lift" to the snow tubes at the top of the hill, visitors can ride down in a single, tandem, or six-person tube. A rendering of the park's snow tubing hill is pictured above. Nighttime guests of Snowcat Ridge will be able to enjoy a special light show, that will take place both on the snow hill and also inside the snow play dome. The property will also have covered pavilions for guests to watch the tubers and view the night light show.
“Our team has been working very hard over the last few years to bring our alpine snow park to reality.” said Benjamin Nagengast, CEO of Snowcat Ridge, in a company press release. “Snowcat Ridge will be unlike anything anyone has seen before in the Sunshine State and we are incredibly excited to unveil our vision for the new alpine snow park today."
Mark Bremer, Creative Director of Snowcat Ridge, echoed Nagengast's excitement, commenting in the same press release, “Some folks think it’s impossible to experience snow tubing and the joy of snow in Florida, but our team is all about making the impossible, possible. The new alpine snow park will be unique in all regards and our team is thrilled to be launching in November 2020.”
Florida may be for beach bums, but who said it isn't for snow bunnies, too? We're so excited to check out this exciting new Sunshine State attraction. We'll look forward to seeing you all on the slopes next fall!
