Soap Opera Legend Eric Braeden Shares Candid Update About His Health
The actor took to Facebook Live yesterday to reveal the news.
Eric Braeden, perhaps best known for his more-than-40-year role as The Young and the Restless patriarch Victor Newman, has revealed he's been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The 82-year-old went live on Facebook yesterday, Friday, April 21, to "talk about [his] personal wellbeing," where he very transparently detailed the process of his diagnosis and treatment so far in the hopes of helping other men his age.
“I hate to be so personal, but I think this may be good for some older guys who may, or may not, listen to this,” he said. “It’ll happen to them.”

Braeden shared that he had his left knee replaced earlier this year, and during his recovery, he “began to have problems with [his] prostate.”
He struggled with urinary retention and pain for several weeks before finally receiving his diagnosis. “Needless to say, I was taken aback. But, I was determined to deal with it,” he continued. He had the cancer removed in surgery, with the doctor confident that he'd gotten it all, but the biopsy showed both high-grade and low-grade cancer cells, meaning that Braeden needed an additional immunotherapy treatment.
He's already had the first two infusions of a six-week course and says he's feeling pretty good so far. “I’m a little under the weather, but not really much,” he elaborated. “I’ve learned, now, to listen to my body more and not go all out.”
He wrapped up the video by thanking fans for their support and encouraging them to offer the same support to any friends or family members that go through the same thing.
