This is the new sober living home for women in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A new luxurious and safe space for women to live while on the road to recovery has opened in Fresno.

“You could come from absolutely nothing and succeed in life as long as you have the tools and you use them,” House Manager for Bloom Time for Women, Michelle Burriel, said.

My Time Recovery has officially opened the doors of Bloom Time for Women.

“We decided about six months ago that there was a huge need for women in our community to have a safe and comfortable environment to work on their recovery,” said vice President of Business Development For My Time Recovery/Bloom Time for Women, Jamie Brown.

Brown says that Bloom Time for Women is more than a sober living space – it’s a home designed to empower women.

“We wanted women to have pride in where they would live and have a safe environment.”

The six-bedroom home has room to house 10 people and will be run by the house manager, Michelle Burriel, who knows firsthand what these women may be going through in their journey.

“I am six years clean. I was a meth addict for 20 years. I’ve been to prison three times. I have lost my children. I have been homeless,” Burriel said.

Now, Burriel has transformed her life, dedicating each day to staying sober and helping others in their journey as well.

“My role as a house manager is to provide support for the women whenever they do come home from the program or even just throughout the day to give them somebody to talk to, somebody to know that they can go to if they’re having issues in the home or even at the program,” Burriel said.

The modern layout and attention to detail, like inspirational quotes as décor, were all intentional to make this home stand out from most sober living situations. The goal is to make women understand that they are not alone on the path to sobriety.

“I understand what it’s like to have nothing and to have something. and so it’s definitely taking on like a mom role in their lives as well.”

They aim to help women rebuild their self-esteem and find a stable support system.

“I hope that women out there know their self-worth and they deserve this opportunity to make their life better,” said Brown.
