Sofia Vergara just launched a line of chic frames with Foster Grant — and they're all under $40

Remember when a new pair of eyeglasses required a trip to your ophthalmologist plus hundreds of dollars on frames and then even more for lenses?
Thankfully, the eyewear industry had a much-needed makeover, and the days of spending a fortune on a new pair of peepers is ancient history. We’re happy to report that 90-year-old eyewear giant Foster Grant recently partnered with Sofia Vergara on a line of glasses that aren’t just chic, they’re reasonable. Each pair rings in at under $40, and the collection includes both readers and sunglasses.
For Vergara, finding a pair of readers that made her feel confident wasn’t easy. “I was avoiding wearing glasses because they made me feel old and weird,” Vergara shares with Yahoo Life. “I didn’t want to look like an old lady wearing glasses, so I refused.”
She wanted something bold, but the only readers she could find were tiny ones that she thought made her appear older.
So when designing her eyewear collection, she went bigger. The line includes 10 reading glasses in a range of power specifications, three SunReaders and six sunglasses. The frames are fun and bold — just like Vergara herself — with bright colors, patterns like tortoise and snakeskin and details like rhinestones.
“I think it’s better to own it,” she shares. “[Glasses should be] something beautiful, like an accessory, because we’re going to wear them all the time and we need to be proud of them and love how they make us look.”
The Emmy nominee’s favorite pair in the line is a cat-eye style called The Sofia. “They go with everything,” she enthusiastically explains. “[My friends] put them on and they love them. They feel sexy. They look cute.”
Vergara’s biggest tip of all? Don’t shy away from large frames. In short, go big or go home. Says the actress: “Big glasses make you look like Sophia Loren.”
