The Got Talent franchise is worldwide but none of the stages are as big and far reaching as America’s Got Talent, which returns this summer for its 19th season with a new set of aspiring performers looking to compete for the ultimate $1 million prize and a chance to headline an AGT live show in Las Vegas.

As usual, the talent will include a new assortment of singers, dancers, comics, magicians and death-defying and high-flying performances which will be judged by Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara in hopes of making it past the auditions and into the live shows for a chance at winning America’s vote.

What does the Golden Buzzer mean on America's Got Talent?

We all love those emotional Golden Buzzer moments when one of the judges or host Terry Crews is so moved by a performance that they press the Golden Buzzer, confetti streams down, and that act is sent directly to the live shows. The awarding of the Golden Buzzer by the judges and Terry takes place during the initial audition period.

We have gotten so used to the Golden Buzzer, we forget that it wasn't initially a part of AGT. In fact, it wasn't introduced until season 10. But it has proven how good a judge of talent our judges and host are. Six out of the nine AGT winners since its introduction—Paul Zerdin, Grace VanderWaal, Darci Lynne, Kodi Lee, Brandon Leake, and The Mayyas—were Golden Buzzers. The exceptions are Shin Lim, Dustin Tavella and Adrian Stoica & Hurricane.

Who won America's Got Talent season 18?

Adrian Stoica & Hurricane, a 9-year-old Border Collie, were the winners of season 18, only the second dog act to win the title.

“I will buy some extra food for Hurricane and some sheep, because she’s a Border Collie, she needs to herd,” said Adrian, who owns a very small house with a big yard in northern Italy between Milan and Turin. Adrian bought Hurricane from a breeder in Italy, making her an Italian dog who doesn’t speak much English, “but in the future we’ll see what happens,” Adrian told Parade.
