Sofia Vergara says sexy Emmys dress is 'perfect for voluptuous women'

It’s usually pretty easy to guess what Sofia Vergara will wear on the red carpet (a strapless gown with a tight bodice and a mermaid hem) — but the designer she chose for the Emmys on Sunday night surely was shocking.

The Modern Family actress showed up in a jaw-dropping floor-length gown fit for a wedding. (Of course, this was very different from the Emmy-nominated actress’s wedding dress, which was a fairytale style lace ballgown by Zuhair Murad.) The piece was made by Mark Zunino, who’s basically majored in curvy women. “He makes dresses that are perfect for voluptuous women,” Vergara said on the red carpet to E! News.

While mostly known for his wedding looks, Zunino seems to be breaking into the red carpet dressing game. Not only did he dress Vergara, but Suzanne Cryer and Ruby Modine wore custom gowns from him as well.

While Zunino shared on Twitter that looks were also designed for Laverne Cox, Lily Tomlin, and Lisa Rinna, they went in different directions. Maybe next year!
