Why Sofia Vergara sells G-strings and granny panties for the exact same price
Sofia Vergara is television’s highest-paid actress, she has an eponymous clothing line for Kmart as well as a furniture line, she’s currently filming a movie with her husband, Joe Manganiello, and the ninth season of her hit show, Modern Family, premieres Wednesday night. As if that weren’t enough, she is now devoting time to a brand-new venture: an underwear subscription-box company called EBY, which she’s created alongside fellow Colombian Renata Black.
Subscribers to the newly-launched EBY receive boxes of underwear four times a year — each box of three pairs costing $48. That frequency of delivery was chosen because research shows it’s how often women shop for skivvies. “Underwear is something that you need constantly,” Vergara said when she stopped by AOL Build to catch up with Yahoo Lifestyle about EBY. “Research shows that women buy underwear at least four times a year.”
The company is sustainable — 10 percent of all the proceeds go towards helping women living in poverty start businesses through microloans — as well as inclusive when it comes to being size diverse and affordable.
“We wanted to include everyone,” Vergara said. “We don’t have only small, medium, large — we go from extra-small to 4x, so we have sizes for everyone.”
She added, “We wanted to make sure that every underwear, no matter how big or small, what size it is — if it’s the little G-string or the one that covers more — they’re all the same price.”
“Everybody is going to be able to pay the same for any underwear that they get, which is not the case usually,” she noted. “The bigger sizes usually cost more. We wanted to make it a great product that every woman would be loving.”
