Solange’s Eye Makeup Is the Real-Girl Version of a Runway Look

During fashion month, we saw models wearing a lot more makeup than they have in past seasons. Gone are the days of yawn-worthy naked eyelids. Instead, it’s hello to bright blue eyeshadow and exaggerated baby-doll lashes.

While we love these fresh, eclectic makeup moments happening on the runway, to be perfectly honest, they don’t always translate well in real life. However, there is one trendsetting fairy goddess by the name of Solange who has been providing a bit more of a real-girl version of these looks for us.

Monday night Solange posted a gorgeous selfie from Mardi Gras. Sure, her skin and hair are impeccable, but it’s her eye makeup that really keeps us engaged. She wore short strikes of red-orange eyeliner under her brow bones, near her inner tear ducts, and along her lower lash line. While it may be a little out there to some, most would say she totally made it work.

The best part about the 30-year-old singer’s eye makeup is that it requires only one product to duplicate. Keep skin clean with just a hint of tinted moisturizer. Follow by tracing eyeliner or a matte lip liner such as NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square along the brow bones on the inner corners of the eye and along the lower lash lines. To keep from clashing with this eccentric eye look, your lips should be left nude with only a swipe of clear balm.

Solange’s fans were in love with the look. One person commented under her photo, “this eye makeup is everything,” while another noted, “your makeup is so innovative.” Someone else jokingly reacted, “I so badly want to have this look after seeing how amaze Solange looks — but I’ll look like I have a rash.”

For the past few months, the “Don’t Touch My Hair” singer has actually been having lots of fun experimenting with new eye makeup looks, and she’s posted selfies to show off her results. In addition to her “Lundi Gras” eye look, she also posted a mesmerizing video of her jeweled eye decor for Fat Tuesday.
