SOLVE calls on outdoor adventurers for Willamette River cleanup
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Calling all volunteers who enjoy using boats, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards: SOLVE needs your help to clean up the Willamette River on Saturday.
The clean-up will begin at 10 a.m. at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry’s north parking lot. It will include both land and water cleanup through downtown Portland and lasts until noon.
SOLVE still needs additional volunteers, particularly the adventurous types who can use human-powered watercraft to help pick up trash on the river itself for those hard-to-reach areas.
“People love the on-the-water aspect of it, they love this part of town,” said SOLVE Chief Executive Officer Kris Carico. “It’s really easy to get out there and do something fun while you are picking up trash.”

The clean-up is made possible by Subaru of Portland. Next Adventure is also offering volunteers a 50% discount on boat rentals for the event.
“Subaru is all about getting out there and exploring, being able to partner with SOLVE means we can make those outdoor places more accessible so people can be outside and enjoying them.”
