Horizon Zero Dawn follows the story of Aloy, a young hunter who is trying to learn more about her mysterious past. The game takes place in a distant future where the world is overrun with mechanical beasts, providing you with a beautiful open-world to explore as you work your way through the lengthy adventure.

Claiming your free copy of Horizon Zero Dawn works the same way as it did for past titles – simply navigate to its PlayStation Store listing during the promotion and you’ll see it listed at no cost.

Play at Home 2021 Recap

Play at Home first started in 2020, as Sony looked for a way to give fans a fun reason to stay inside and social distance. Both Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey were up for grabs during the event, and the promotion became an instant success.

Sony kicked off its 2021 Play at Home initiative in March by giving all PlayStation owners a free copy of Ratchet & Clank. After that, Sony moved on to the next stage of the promotion – which included nine free indie games (this concluded April 22nd), and Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition starting April 19th.

  • Abzu

  • Enter the Gungeon

  • Rez Infinite

  • Subnautica

  • The Witness

  • Astro Bot Rescue Mission

  • Moss

  • Thumper

  • Paper Beast

  • Ratchet & Clank

  • Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition

That’s quite an impressive lineup of free games. Best of all, these were available to all PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners – even if you weren’t subscribed to PS Plus.

All the games on the list are critically acclaimed, but Astro Bot Rescue Mission might be the standout title. You’ll need a PSVR headset to join in on the action, but it’s arguably one of the best VR games on the platform. This unique 3D platformer requires you to control Astro with the DualShock 4 controller while also using your body to navigate obstacles and see around obstructive scenery. It’s a fantastic use of VR technology – and a game any PSVR owner will be happy to have in their library.

For non-VR players, Enter the Gungeon was one of the most popular games on offer. This sees you helping out a ragtag team of adventurers as they seek out a gun that can erase the past. Along the way, you’ll shoot through hordes of enemies, pick up powerful weapons and face off against terrifying bosses in frantic top-down action.

Even if you don’t have the storage space to install free games, it’s in your best interest to at least claim them. This will permanently add each title to your library – ready to install whenever you free up some space.
