Sophie Turner Breaks Silence on Impending Joe Jonas Divorce
Sophie Turner is addressing the recent news of her split from Joe Jonas head-on.
Speculation of the pair's impending divorce has been swirling around the rumor mill for days now, with the Jonas Brothers singer making it official on Tuesday, Sept. 5, by filing divorce papers in Miami-Dade County, Florida, claiming that "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken."
Now, one day later, Turner, 27, and Jonas, 34, have released a joint statement via Instagram concerning the end of their marriage, which was shared early Wednesday morning.
"Statement from the two of us," the post began, before giving a direct quote from the former couple, who have been married since 2019 and share two children together.
"After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," the statement read. "There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
Comments on both Turner's and Jonas' posts were turned off.
Throughout the pair's four-year marriage, Jonas and Turner have welcomed two daughters, starting with their eldest, Willa, who was born in 2020. The parents of two have yet to publicly share the name of their second child, who was born in July 2022.
The court documents filed by Jonas reportedly note that he is seeking "shared parental responsibility" with the Game of Thrones actress, and insisted a "parenting plan should be established" for their two little ones.
The filing also explained that the kids have been living with Jonas in Miami and other locations throughout the country, but that "it is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility."
Jonas and Turner are believed to have a prenuptial agreement in place.
