Sourcing Journal x Rivet Sustainability Event: See You in LA!
As the global hub for denim news, Rivet is proud to provide L.A. denim brands and manufacturers a platform to share their sustainable journeys with our first in-person event alongside Sourcing Journal.
It has always been my hope that Rivet would host an event one day, but for that to occur two things needed to happen.

First, it had to be in Los Angeles, the center of the global premium denim industry and home to veteran professionals and disruptive newcomers. It had to be accessible to the people working behind the scenes in HQs, washhouses and R&D labs who have firsthand knowledge of the challenges and rewards that come with applying sustainable processes and technologies to their daily work.
Second, it couldn’t be the usual denim crowd. Though the denim industry is known for being an early adopter of sustainable innovations, the event with Sourcing Journal is an opportunity for denim leaders to break out of their silos and learn how other apparel categories are navigating sustainability.
Themed “Sea Change,” the full-day SJ x Rivet Sustainability LA conference will present case studies and actionable insights showing how to propel environmental and social responsibility forward. The agenda will reflect Sourcing Journal and Rivet’s extensive coverage of sustainability in the fashion supply chain—from raw materials to retail. Brands and retailers will take the stage to share their successes and suggestions for what to do—and not do—to garner the best outcomes. A session will dive into what to expect next in sustainability laws from California and beyond.
Change doesn’t come without trying new ideas—something the Rivet team has been doing all year. From pivoting to a bolder magazine format to having a presence at SXSW, Coachella and NYFW, 2024 has become a year for stepping out of our comfort zone and changing up what people come to expect from the publication.
I plan to bring this same enterprising spirit to the inaugural Sourcing Journal x Rivet LA event in September. I look forward to exchanging ideas, meeting new faces and trying something new. See you in L.A.!
