Juliette's legendary fried green tomatoes are the leading symbol in this quaint small town located in South Georgia. Only an hour south of Atlanta, this small town remains rather untouched by time. In the early 1900s, Juliette was home to a lively railroad community and one of the country’s largest running grist mills but it has since settled into a historic town full of collectible shops and Southern charm.

Southern film buffs will know that, in the 1990s, Juliette, Georgia, transformed into the setting of the major Hollywood film Fried Green Tomatoes. Although they renovated The Whistle Stop Café for the film, the storefront used to be a neighborhood general store for the folks in town. The Whistle Stop Café was left in its true rustic state after the film was done and has since earned its spot as a well-known Southern café.

The café is marked with hand-painted windows advertising fried green tomatoes, rustic wood furnishings, and front row seats to the silent small-town buzz. They serve all the dishes you’d expect—from Southern fried chicken to their iconic fried green tomatoes. The secret? Well, we can’t say. We do know that it’s in the batter and in their highly recommended special radish sauce. If you can’t get enough of this Southern staple, they also make a fried green tomato salad and fried green tomato sandwich that will surely satisfy your summertime hankerings.
