After Speaking out About George Floyd's Death, 'Property Brother' Jonathan Scott Gives to Four Nonprofits
After speaking out last weekend about the death of George Floyd, Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott is committing to using his platform and his voice to "affect lasting change."
"I’m committed to listening. I’m committed to learning. I shall use my voice, my platform, and my vote to affect lasting change," Jonathan tweeted Saturday afternoon. "This is not an overnight fix, but I believe good shall prevail and we are all responsible to speak up about the injustices around us. Silence solves nothing."
At the same time, Jonathan announced he is donating to four nonprofits working nationwide:the NAACP, Fair Fight, The Conscious Kid, and the ACLU.
"I'm donating to these organizations that I feel are doing great work nationwide," Jonathan wrote on an infographic displaying the websites for each organization. He then posed this question to his followers: "What other organizations do you support?"
Jonathan took to Instagram last weekend to say, "Black lives matter."

"I’m struggling with the idea that this is who we are in 2020. The more I think about it, the more upset I get. We can and NEED to be better. PEOPLE are dying...being murdered...and not given the dignity or respect of being treated like human beings," Jonathan wrote at the time alongside a photo of a memorial for George. "I know I benefit from privilege that many others do not. And it’s wrong. We are all created equal."
Drew, for his part, has also shared different ways to fund racial justice.
"I believe that we can use this rage to fuel change and justice, peacefully. It’s hard to find words... but I have a duty to learn all that I can to help," he wrote Monday. "Donate if you are able, have conversations that might be uncomfortable, help the helpers."
