Squirrel Infiltrates Pool Area with 3 Golden Retrievers & Hilarious Chaos Ensues
Golden Retrievers are well known for being playful and friendly. They are wonderful with children, other animals, and nearly anyone they meet. However, they are still animals with instincts, which can sometimes overpower their training and good nature.
It’s even harder to control that Retriever DNA when you have siblings who help each other get riled up! And that’s precisely what happened when a squirrel broke into the poolside territory of these three dogs.
Watch how the chaos unfolded in this video from September 30.
This rodent is one lucky guy. If David’s (@pvplantguy) dogs are anything like mine, they have been waiting for an opportunity like this! At my house, squirrels run around the pool cage and harass my dogs daily. So, if one ever got inside, my high prey drive French Bulldog wouldn’t likely be as kind as these beautiful Golden Retrievers were. Even though one dog captured the squirrel in his mouth, he tossed it into the pool unharmed after hearing Dad scream. Who would have thought that squirrels could swim? Fortunately, David saved him from the water and safely carried him outside. Although he may have been wet, he seemed fine, and hopefully, it was a lesson for him to stay away from places with dogs. However, when it was all said and done and the adrenaline wore off, Dad may not have felt as outstanding. I know I would have needed the rest of the day off.

Are Squirrels Strong Swimmers?
Surprisingly, they are! According to Pest Quit, although squirrels may be more skilled at flying through the air and jumping from tree to tree, they can also hold their own in the water and swim when required. They can even cross a small river or stream should the need arise. However, stronger currents or long distances would threaten the safety of these tiny creatures.
This poolside mayhem entertained people. One remarked, “That squirrel was treading water like a gold medal swimmer!” That’s the truth, and he did it with terrific form. Viewer @losammylo responded, “Honestly, I’m just amazed the squirrel didn’t bite you. It was like three dogs or a human. I’ll take my chances with the human, lol.” It was an intelligent choice. Another person shared, “Squirrel has nine lives! It almost got eaten by dogs, survived drowning, and still got away.” He’ll undoubtedly have a lot to tell his friends, but with a tale this big, they might not believe it.
Aside from the stress, this situation ended happily for everyone involved. However, it’s safe to presume these Goldens will patiently wait for the next squirrel who crashes their party.
