ST. LOUIS – Despite the intense heat and a touch of rain, the community’s spirit remains unbroken as vendors at the Tower Grove Park Farmer’s Market are braving the weather to keep their businesses thriving.

Business owners and visitors are also finding ways to beat the heat.

“Drink lots of water and try to stay in the shade as much as possible,” Jay Howie, owner of Howie Farms, said.

“Luckily, we do not cook. We have cold drinks. So, we’re drinking water consistently and boba sometimes. We sneak that in,” Lily Clark, owner of Bo.co Boba Tea, said.

Some citizens have unique ways to stay cool so they can enjoy the intense heat.

“I’m hydrating my body, and I’m using plant-based foods to do that. So coconut water, juices, like my berries and things like that to keep my lymphs very hydrated,” Ykhshuwa Lamarcus , visitor, said.

“We pride ourselves on bringing young professionals out to network to get to know each other…so, it’s also a great opportunity to get out of the heat because we have indoor and outdoor opportunities for people to enjoy,” Raven Whitener, one of the founders, said.

Attendees thought it was the perfect event to stay cool and socialize with other young professionals in St. Louis.

“Anytime you have an opportunity to network in the Saint Louis area—whether it be hot or cool—it’s a good opportunity. There’s so many people doing amazing things and it actually feels good inside,” attendee Quinshala Wren said.

From the market vendors to the rooftop views, St. Louisans are proving that even under a heat advisory, community and connection are always in season.
