St. Michael’s Feast returns July 19-21 with food, music, and family fun. What to know

FALL RIVER – Volunteers at St. Michael’s Church in Fall River have been hard at work preparing the grounds for the parish’s annual feast, which will take place from July 19 to 21.

Feast-goers will be able to enjoy three days full of tradition, Portuguese and American foods, games, and free live entertainment.

Here is what you need to know before you go:

What are the hours of the St. Michael’s Parish Feast?

The feastwill take place on the church grounds, located at 189 Essex St., Fall River.

On Friday and Saturday, the festa is open from 5 to 10 p.m., and on Sunday, it will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

Entertainment lineup

Live entertainment will be provided daily. Get Lucky band will perform on Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Marc Dennis on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Sunday, the Banda Senhora Concei??o Mosteirense, a Fall River-based Portuguese marching band, will perform at 4:30 p.m. New Bedford-based Edge band will take the stage from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Flower carpet rolled out for the Feast Procession

On Sunday, a bilingual Feast Mass will take place at 9:30 a.m.

Parishioners will cover the street with a colorful, elaborate patterned carpet made with flowers and sawdust just in time for the Feast Procession at 1 p.m.

Clergy members, parochial groups, civil dignitaries, representatives from cultural and civic organizations, children dressed as saints and angels, as well as First Communion children, and students from the parochial school are expected to take part in the procession.

What’s on the menu?

Concession booths will be offering a diverse menu throughout the weekend, including ca?oila, bifanas, chouri?o and peppers sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, steak tip kebabs, stuffed quahogs and the crowd-pleasing malassadas.

Fun and games

It would not be a typical Portuguese feast without some fun and games. Feast-goers will be able to try their luck at chance games on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
