St. Michaels named adorable town by Southern Living

Summer vacationers looking for a prime getaway won't have to travel too far out of the Mid-Atlantic region as many of the top locations are just a few hours' drive away, according to a new ranking from destination and rustic-lifestyle outlet Southern Living.
Southern Living ranked the 15 most adorable small towns for a summer getaway, and a few East Coast locations made the list.
One top pick is nestled on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Where is St. Michaels?
St. Michaels, located along Maryland's bucolic Eastern Shore, scored points for its location, quaint shops and atmosphere.
"Located on the Chesapeake Bay, about an hour and a half east of D.C., you’ll feel worlds away from our nation’s busy Capitol," read Southern Living's write-up on St. Michaels. "Businesses along South Talbot Street like Olde Town Candy Company and The Shops at Sea Captain’s Cottage are must-visits.
"For the full experience, book a stay at the historic Inn at Perry Cabin, the enigmatic resort that provided the backdrop for pivotal scenes in the classic rom-com Wedding Crashers."

Where is Black Mountain?
Southern Living tapped Black Mountain, North Carolina for the mountain town's quiet lifestyle and old-school shops that conjure vibes of a bygone era.
"Spend a day strolling the walkable downtown where you’ll find local art galleries and ceramics shops, an old-school general store, laidback breweries, and ice cream shops," read Southern Living's description of Black Mountain. "On Saturdays, you can hang with locals at the Tailgate Market (a farmers market), or sit down to brunch at Open Oven Brunch & Bakery.
"Need a minute to stop and smell the roses? There are hand-painted rocking chairs situated all over town that are perfect for exactly that."
