Stainless Steel Sippy Cups Recalled Over Concerns of Potential Lead Poisoning
Check your cabinets and drawers.
Parents are being urged to check their kitchen cabinets after a recall involving recalled stainless-steel bottles and cups.
The recall applies to Green Sprouts Stainless Steel Straw Bottles, Sippy Cups and Sip & Straw Cups—both 6oz and 8oz sizes. About 10,500 units were sold at Buy Buy Baby and Whole Foods stores, in addition to Amazon and Bed Bath and Beyond from January 2020 through September 2022.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission notes that the bottom base can break off, “exposing a solder dot that contains lead, posing a lead poisoning hazard to the child.”
Lead is toxic if ingested by young kids and can lead to adverse health effects. No injuries have been reported thus far.
The tracking numbers of the affected products are 29218V06985, 35719V06985, and 33020V06985, which can be found on the bottom of the base.
The colors being recalled include aqua, pink, green, and navy colors with one of three closure options: (1) a silicone sippy spout with a colored plastic lid, collar and handle (2) a silicone sippy spout and a straw spout with colored plastic lid, collar and handle, or (3) a silicone straw with plastic screw-on flip cap.
Those who own the recalled stainless steel bottles and cups should take them away from children and discard the products.
Consumers can them contact Green Sprouts for a full refund either as store credit or your money back.
Green Sprouts will also contact anyone who purchased the recalled items directly to notify them.

Earlier in the year, popular baby swings and rockers were recalled. There have been a handful of other recalls lately, including deli meat, dry shampoo, and cleaning products.
