Star Wars Land Opening Dates: When the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Will Open at Disneyland and Disney World
Disney has officially announced the Star Wars land opening dates on both coasts.
The ultra-immersive theme park land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, honoring the characters and creativity of the famed film franchise will open at Disneyland Resort in summer 2019 and Walt Disney World resort in late fall 2019.
Before making your travel plans, it’s worth considering what those time frames could mean. To capitalize on summer crowds — one of the busiest times of the year at Disneyland — we’re taking an optimistic guess that Galaxy’s Edge could open in late May or early June at the California park. The land is likely to be in full force by July, pun intended.

In Florida, “late fall” could be as early as September and as late as November, even later if progress gets delayed (which is a possibility on any project). Guests planning to travel down in 2019 for seasonal events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party may want to lean towards the further end of those dates, or opt for an early Christmas celebration to see Disney’s over-the-top holiday decor instead. The first week of December is traditionally less busy than the rest of the month, so crowd-weary Rey fans may want to plan trips then. If you don't want crowds, try your best to avoid holidays. Though convenient for school and work schedules, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s are already busy at the parks, and it’s safe to assume they will be even more so with the new Star Wars land.
Since construction has not yet begun at the Star Wars-themed hotel at Disney World, a safer bet will be Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club, Disney’s Beach Club, and Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resorts, where you’re likely to get into Galaxy’s Edge more quickly. Not only are all a short walk or boat ride away from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but guests get 60-day Fastpass+ booking windows and Extra Magic Hours.
Even if you're not looking to stay at a Disney property, nearly every hotel in California’s Disneyland Resort area are in close proximity to the park.
No announcements have yet been made on ticket pricing or structure for the Star Wars land openings, but precedent says it’ll likely cost you a pretty penny to get into Galaxy’s Edge first. Pixar Pier, the newest land at Disney California Adventure, is hosting a VIP party prior to its official June 23 opening with souvenirs, entertainment, complimentary food and early access to attractions — for $299 per person.
