'Star Wars'-loving parents named twins born on May 4 Luke and Leia
When Ross and Kendall Robbins’s children were born on May 4, aka Star Wars Day, they knew they wanted to honor the movie franchise’s legacy.
The Robbinses named their children Rowan Luke and Kai Leia, with the twins’ middle names in honor of Star Wars characters Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. The couple are both Star Wars fans, so the children’s names were a fun way to honor the twin characters played by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.
The twins’ birthday wasn’t a coincidence either, Salt Lake City’s Fox 13 reported. Kendall Robbins had an induced birth — and the parents chose May 4 for their children’s birthday.
“We found out we were having a boy and a girl, and we knew that being born May the 4th, they had to be Luke and Leia — at least for theirmiddle names,” Kendall Robbins told Fox 13.
Even before the parents knew about the induction date, Star Wars was a part of the children’s journey. Kendall Robbins shared a photo of the two of them during her pregnancy, and Ross Robbins is wearing a Star Wars shirt in the picture.
One of the Kendall’s Facebook friends chimed in early with the suggestion, and the then mother-to-be was all for it.
The babies’ names aren’t the only way Star Wars is being incorporated into their young lives either. Fox 13 adds that the children’s nursery is Star Wars-themed.
And if you’re wondering just why their birthday is called Star Wars Day, the answer is surprisingly simple. It’s a reference to the Star Wars sendoff “May the Force be with you.” On the “holiday,” you can greet Star Wars-loving friends with the play on words “May the fourth be with you.”
It’s safe to say people will be greeting the Robbins’s twins with that phrase for a very long time.
