Starbucks Is Finally Offering Non-Dairy Bottled Drinks
Slowly but surely, life is getting a little easier for people who want to cut dairy out of their diets. First, Halo Top comes out with vegan pints of ice cream, and now, Starbucks is making it easier to have an almond milk Frappuccino on the go. They're releasing three new types of bottled drinks, the type you can get at your local grocery store.
According to a press release, Starbucks will start selling non-dairy bottled Frappuccinos in May 2018, in both vanilla and mocha flavors. An added bonus is the almond milk drinks have 35 percent fewer calories than the dairy versions. But Today.com notes that they're marked "non-dairy," not "dairy-free," meaning that people with severe dairy allergies may not want to drink them.
Starbucks is also rolling out non-dairy Doubleshot Coffee Smoothies in May, which are made with coffee, bananas, and almond milk. They come in dark chocolate and vanilla honey flavors.
Of course, there were already ways you could have a non-dairy Starbucks in a bottle. like their bottled cold brews or iced coffees. In fact, Starbucks is also rolling out single-serving cold brew bottles in sweetened black and vanilla and fig, both coming out this February. (The vanilla and fig variety has cream in it, but the sweetened black does not.)
But this is the first time that the bottled Frappuccino, which has been popular for years and is the longest-running bottled product from the company, is coming in a non-dairy variety. It's great news for people who are lactose intolerant or just don't want dairy, but still need a quick caffeine (and, let's be real, sugar) fix in the morning.
