Starbucks reveals ‘vibrant and bright’ sneak peek at 2024 holiday cups
Starbucks is giving customers a sneak peek into what they can expect for in-store cheer.
The holiday season returns to Starbucks stores on Thursday, Nov. 7, and the coffee chain released a first look into the “bright and beautiful” 2024 holiday paper cups with a theme of “Merrier Together,” according to the chain.
Designs for four hot cups and one cold cup will be available for drink in-store drink orders, and Starbucks Creative Director Kristy Cameron said they were inspired by “genuine moments of joy and coffee.”
“Whether that’s coffee trees growing, beans roasting, cups toasting or lights glowing — we wanted to share the warmth of our coffeehouse and the anticipation of the red cups arriving with our customers and partners,” Cameron said in a statement.
The holiday cups will be the familiar cranberry-red color that customers know and love, but Starbucks will also “lean into greens this year” with fondant-inspired soft pastels.
“The jade green is so vibrant and bright, and we love how it references our brand colors in a way that brings a spark of joy to our holiday cups this season,” Cameron explained.
Graphic elements of the new holiday cups include charms that look like old-fashioned holiday ornaments or peppermints.
A wavy motif inspired by the Starbucks siren will be used as a scalloped edge treatment on the sleeve of the hot cup, along with badges on the back for baristas to write a message, which comes as Starbucks returns to its roots of using Sharpies to scrawl names on cups.
Festive hot cups include:
Warm Wishes, with interconnected dots to evoke glowing holiday lights and moments of enjoying coffee together
Joyful Connection, with circular shapes combining to form a pattern that honors the art of coffee roasting and the joy of being together
Lyrical Landscape, with undulating lines that weave together, reminiscent of holiday ribbons and the green rolling hills where coffee is grown
Siren Chorus, with striped holiday charms coming together in a chorus of colors, inspired by patterns made from raking coffee beans in the sun and the flowing lines of the Starbucks siren
Meanwhile, the holiday cold cup is adorned with white festive charms on the clear cup.
Last week, Starbucks revealed its holiday merchandise, including seasonal drinkware and gifts, which will also be available at Starbucks stores on Nov. 7.
