There's a battle of the baristas taking place on TikTok, and it has nothing to do with the proper way to make a macchiato or the number of pumps needed for the perfect Pumpkin Spice Latte. The latest Starbucks drama to hit the social media site stems from the coffee chain's new tip feature.

At select Starbucks locations, customers are now able to tip using their debit or credit card. Although the feature isn't available at every Starbucks, a company rep did confirm with Newsweek that the new tipping option is still "rolling out" and "will continue to roll out to all stores where this can apply through the end of the year."

But there are baristas who aren't pleased with the new feature. And according to TikTok user @yassimodo, some baristas who aren't even giving customers the chance to tip in order to avoid the potentially awkward interaction of having to explain the new option.

“I’ve literally been pressing ‘no tip’ before giving them the card reader because I really don’t want to ask them to tip,” posted a TikTok user who may work at Starbucks.

"The amount of baristas on here saying that they just hit the no tip button before handing out the card reader, that's scary," said @yassimodo.

@yassimodo then offered a stern warning about the possibility of being fired if they don't let customers tip. But to help their fellow baristas out, @yassimodo did provide a suggestion for what baristas can say to customers who are unfamiliar with the new feature. It might even get them "mad tips."

"First of all, my loves, that's fireable," they revealed. "You can't touch the screen at all. It was in the training. Second of all, all you have to do is this. This is what I say: 'It's gonna ask if you want to leave a tip. It's totally up to you, but you have to make a selection for the card to go through.' Plain and simple."
