Stephanie Seymour pens heartbreaking tribute to son 1 year after his death at 24: 'I miss you today and I’ll miss you tomorrow'
Supermodel Stephanie Seymour is paying tribute to her late son, model and makeup mogul Harry Brant.
Tragically, Brant, the son of Seymour and publisher Peter Brant, died in January 2021 after an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Seymour opened up about how she’s currently dealing with grief, one year later.
“I missed you today but that’s nothing new, I missed you a million times yesterday too. I picked up my phone to tell you the news, then realised, again, I can’t text it to you,” the poetic post began, alongside a series of photos of Harry throughout his life.
"I saw your bright smile, at least twenty times, and then I remember, it’s all in my mind. I drive without presence, the world feels surreal, And on comes your song and this doesn’t seem real.
"I missed you today but I miss you a lot, It’s helpful to miss you, it’s all that I’ve got. I wish I could pull you down here for a while. I’m frightened to lose the shape of your smile.
"I miss you today and I’ll miss you tomorrow, There seems to be no coming end to this sorrow. I try to go on as I know that you care, I know that you’re willing me on from up there.
"I miss you today but I’m trying to find, A way to move on but not leave you behind. A way to forge on with the love that we had, A way to recall you and simply feel…glad."
The post inspired a string of supportive messages, including from people who've experienced similar grief.
"I lost my beautiful daughter too so I understand this poem," one commenter wrote. "Living with a broken heart isn’t easy. It’s the hardest thing a Mother will ever have to do."
"He is waiting for you. Someday, some sweet day you will be together," a fan added, while another commented: "Life is just a passage. Soon, we'll all be together."
“Harry was not just our son. He was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favourite uncle and a caring friend," the family said in a statement just one day after his death in 2021. "He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people’s hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out."
As reported by the LA Times, Harry had planned to enter a new drug rehab center last year, as well as play a larger role on the creative side of Interview magazine, the renowned pop-culture publication created by Andy Warhol and published by Harry’s father.
Of course, Harry grew up around the bustling art and fashion world. Before his death he was known for being a member of the next-generation jetset who was never afraid to showcase his androgynous style at fashion shows and red carpet events around the world.
As a teenager, Harry wrote for his father’s magazine while modeling and appearing in several campaigns. In 2015, he co-launched a unisex makeup line for MAC Cosmetics with his older brother, Peter, and became an instant favorite among the fashion elite. New York Magazine once referred to them both as “NYC’s most beautiful teenage brothers."
Harry, who was always outspoken about breaking the stigma against men's makeup, said in a 2020 interview with designer Marc Jacobs that he found self-expression and transformation through his own personal style.
"To me, wearing makeup is almost like a sense of armor that can be wielded whichever way I want, as a completely transformative form of self-expression," he said at the time, adding, "I hope that we live in a world now where little boys ... are a little bit less afraid to wear makeup."
