The world mourned upon news famed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking died at the age of 76 last week. He left us with more of his mind-blowingly brilliant work, though, it turns out. Business Insider UK reports he submitted and co-authored a paper less than two weeks before his death that deals with uncovering parallel universes.

According to The Sunday Times, the paper is called "A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation" and will be released in an as-of-yet named "leading journal" upon review. The paper reportedly lays out mathematical processes required for a deep-space probe to collect evidence that alternate universes exist.

Thomas Hertog, who co-authored the paper with Hawking, told EuroNews they were trying to prove the existence of "multiverses." Their work apparently "shows that observations in our own universe can provide strong evidence for the existence of other universes." Hertog says Hawking's work here would have undoubtedly earned him a Nobel Prize had he been alive for its publication.

But wait - there's more! The paper also reportedly details the inevitable, permanent darkness that will eventually befall our own universe. More on that when it's published!
