Steven Moffat's 'secret' Sherlock project The Game is Now revealed to be an escape room
There was a flurry of excitement last month when the creators of BBC One's Sherlock hinted about plans for a new adventure involving the great detective called The Game is Now.
Well, the game is now out in the open: it's an escape room, a Crystal Maze-style interactive puzzle in which participants break out of detailed sets using clues hidden in each room.
Written by Sherlock's showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, alongside established escape room company Time Run, the 90-100 minute game encourages visitors to play the role of agents in the Network – an international ring of spies and detectives.
"As my little brother Sherlock is out of the country," explains Mycroft Holmes (Gatiss) in a promotional video, the Network has "a temporary shortage of human resources".
According to the game's website, it will include audio and video scenes with "original Sherlock cast members". Though no casting has been announced, both Gatiss and Benedict Cumberbatch (as Sherlock) appeared in a teaser for the game released in May.
Booking is now open, with tickets available from October 23 to January 31. Tickets are only available in batches of four to six, and cost £54 per person.
