The Story Behind Cheryl Burke’s Stunning Engagement Ring Will Make You Tear Up
Talk about sentimental value! In a move on par with Michelle Williams’ fiancé Chad Johnson, who saved up for her engagement ring for 11 years, Matthew Lawrence just proposed to DWTS alum Cheryl Burke with a ring sure to capture her heart in more ways than one.
Burke announced her engagement to the Girl Meets World star on her 34th birthday with a series of pics posted to Instagram, in which her new bauble was front and center. “OMG! So good for 34!” she said of the unexpected surprise.
While the sparkling halo diamond would be impressive enough on its own, a rep for the dancer revealed to ET that Lawrence’s choice actually held far deeper meaning: “It’s the same diamond that Cheryl’s late father, Steve Burke, gave to her mother.” Steve Burke passed away in March of this year, just before his 68th birthday.
With the help of his bride-to-be’s mother, Sherri, his own mother, Donna, and jeweler XIV Karats in Beverly Hills, the actor “had the stone reset and added more diamonds” to honor Burke’s memory while creating a new piece for his lady love.
The couple first dated back in 2007 before calling things off in 2008. They reconciled back in February 2017.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
