Capcom’s newest fighting game, Street Fighter 6, released earlier this year to rave reviews, and has had a steady stream of additional content released in the months since. Now, it’s getting a surprising crossover with Spy x Family, of all things.
Capcom announced a crossover collaboration with Spy x Family yesterday, with the launch of a new animation featuring Spy x Family’s Yor and Street Fighter’s Chun-Li facing off in hand-to-hand combat. It’s an incredible trailer, honestly, with some extremely flashy animation and effects that feel right at home in both SF6 and Spy x Family.
The collaboration event will extend into the game itself in the future, on January 9, 2024, or a little over a month away now, though the exact content set to appear in the game has not yet been announced. That date might seem a little far off, especially given we’re seeing the trailer for it now, but the crossover is actually to promote the new Spy x Family film, subtitled Code: White, which is due to be released in Japan on December 22.
Spy x Family Code: White had its western release confirmed last month, with the film set to be released in US theaters sometime in 2024. Unfortunately, an exact release date outside of Japan has yet to be announced, but it’s expected that it’ll be in the first half of the year rather than the second.
It won’t be Spy x Family’s first foray into gaming, though, with the anime series being adapted into an adorable new Spy x Family video game featuring Anya as the lead character. The game has players playing as Anya and filling out a photo diary through cute minigames, and is set to be released this month in Japan and next year for 2024 — just like the movie, really.
