Strength Coach Cyclist Is Back On The Bike One Month After Hit-and-Run

Last month, popular cycling strength coach Derek Teel of Dialed Health was struck by a car on a ride. He broke his femur, tibia, and fibula, and collapsed a lung, among other injuries.

On February 27th, 2024, just 27 days after the injury, Teel got back on the bike. See his training effort below along with photo and video.

Teel in a full leg brace, got on the trainer and pedaled for 10 minutes traveling a distance of 2.2 miles. Baby steps!

Derek is an absolute warrior for getting back on the bike so soon, especially when the bike was where he experienced the gruesome injury.

There are simply too many cyclists getting hit by cars. Distracted driving is an epidemic that can be deadly for cyclists. It is very important to educate drivers on the importance of keeping an eye out for cyclists on the road.

Even though Teel suffered gruesome injuries, he is also “fortunate” in that getting it by a car going 65 mph could have been deadly. Thankfully the driver of the hit-and-run has been apprehended. Read more about the story below.
