The 'Succession' Cast Is Poor Compared to Their Characters
Succession cast
Succession is an award-winning HBO series that started in 2018 and lasted four seasons, wrapping in May 2023. It follows the mega-wealthy Roy family and the power struggle that ensues when the family patriarch is poised to step down from leadership. It also happened to snag nine nominations Golden Globes nominations this week to go along with the 27 Emmy nominations it picked up back in July.
Much like the Roy family on screen, the actors that portrayed them are doing quite well in the financial department. It helps that Succession reached critical acclaim and much of the cast renegotiated their contracts before Season 3.
Read on for the Succession cast salary and where each cast member ranks according to net worth. (Note: J. Smith-Cameron is not included on the list because there is conflicting information about her net worth, but make no mistake—Gerri is an integral part of the show!)

What was the Succession cast's salary?
When the show started, everyone was making less than $100,000 per episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter. By the end of negotiations, their salaries had more than tripled.
Stars Jeremy Strong (who plays Kendall), Sarah Snook (Shiv), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom), Kieran Culkin (Roman), Alan Ruck (Connor) and Nicholas Braun (Greg) all shot up to salaries of $300,000 to $350,000 per episode.
Brian Cox, who plays infamous family patriarch Logan, however, got an even sweeter deal. His pay increased to $400,000 to $500,000, per Deadline.
The Succession cast ranked by net worth
Nicholas Braun (Greg)
Net worth: $4 million
Braun started acting in 2001 as mainly a guest or supporting member of many TV and movie casts. (Remember “Ponytail Derek” from The Perks of Being a Wallflower? You know the part’s small when your character doesn’t even have a last name.) Since 2018, though, Braun’s acting cred and net worth have shot up with his portrayal of Roy family cousin Greg Hirsch. Acting aside, he owns several bars and restaurants in New York City, including Jacs on Bond.
Jeremy Strong (Kendall)
Net worth: $4 million
Strong found his TV success through the character of Kendall Roy, but has played parts in major films, too, in movies like Lincoln (2012), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), Selma (2014) and Molly’s Game (2017).
Sarah Snook (Shiv)
Net worth: $4 million
Shiv Roy could be considered Snook’s breakout role, though she’s had plenty of smaller credits through the years. You can also see her in Steve Jobs (2015), The Dressmaker (2015) and The Glass Castle (2017).
Kieran Culkin (Roman)
Net worth: $5 million
Prior to Succession, Kieran may have been familiar for the fact that he’s Macaulay Culkin’s younger brother. However, he’s had quite a career of his own, starring in movies such as The Cider House Rules (1999) and Igby Goes Down (2002), among many other film credits.

Matthew Macfadyen (Tom)
Net worth: $5 million
Non-Succession fans will know Matthew Macfadyen as the Mr. Darcy to Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth in 2005’s Pride and Prejudice. And just as Darcy isn’t what he seems on the outside, neither is the character of Tom Wambsgans, demonstrating Macfadyen’s versatility as an actor.
Alan Ruck (Connor)
Net worth: $12 million
Ruck struck gold with his role as Cameron Frye in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986), which helps explain his No. 2 spot on this list. He also acted in the 1990s sitcom Spin City, and has dozens of other film and TV credits over his decades in Hollywood.
Brian Cox (Logan)
Net worth: $15 million
The man who plays the Roy family patriarch also happens to be the richest in real life. Cox was well-known before assuming the mantle of Logan Roy and has more than 230 acting credits to his name. These include Braveheart (1995), The Bourne Identity (2002) and Zodiac (2007).
