Summer fishing: 5 of the most common target fish on the Treasure Coast
Ed Killer, Treasure Coast Newspapers
Summertime can offer great fishing opportunities along the Treasure Coast. Here are 5 common targets:
Tarpon: The "silver king" can be caught inshore and offshore from Sebastian to Stuart from April to August.
Jack crevalle: Pound-for-pound fishing's hardest fighter. Can catch up to 40-pounders along the beaches.
Mutton snapper: One of Florida's best eating fishes. Catch on reefs in 40-60 feet of water.
Spiny lobster: Lobster diving can be as good here as in the Florida Keys.
Mangrove snapper: Anyone can catch one around bridges, jetties and seawalls.
