SunnyD Targets Millennials With New Alcohol Seltzer
The low-calorie hard seltzer comes with a heavy dose of nostalgia.
The latest hard seltzer to hit the market is giving a heavy dose of childhood nostalgia.
SunnyD announced its introducing a SunnyD Vodka Seltzer, featuring the beloved beverage's signature tangy, orange flavor.
The drink is hitting stores nationwide soon, first being exclusively available at select Walmart stores around the country on Mar. 11.
The drink comes in a four-pack retailing at $9.99. Its site also notes that the drink will be available in individual 12 oz. slim cans.
Though it contains the sugary taste fans love, it's not a high calorie drink. Each can has 95 calories, and doesn't use artificial sweeteners. Instead of sugar, the cans are sweetened with Stevia to retain its flavor while still being one of the healthier hard seltzers on the market.
The alcohol content isn't very high either at only 4.5 percent by volume.
"SunnyD is a powerful brand, the most boldly unique orange drink on the planet," said the beverage's Chief Marketing Officer Ilene Bergenfeld in a press release.
She added, "Consumers are passionate about this iconic brand, rooted in nostalgia but with a taste that resonates today. Many have told us that they enjoy SunnyD as a mixer and asked for this product. So, we looked at the hard seltzer category, and thought, good, but we can do better. And SunnyD Vodka Seltzer was born."
The press release also noted that in a blind taste test, 57 percent of participants said it was better than the hard seltzers they typically consume.
