At one of her first runway shows, Bündchen whipped her hair and made the Brazilian bombshell into the iconic look it is today.

Happy 35th birthday, Gisele Bündchen! The highest paid model in the world seems to have it all: a legendary career, a supportive and hot husband, two adorable children, and legs that defy gravity. Bündchen was the first of the late ‘90s Brazilian model wave to reach acclaimed international success, effectively ending the heroin chic trend of models epitomized by Kate Moss. In the place of pale waifs were bronzed, leggy, sexy goddesses with Bündchen leading the way. The supermodel pioneered the “horse strut,” a powerful walk in which the knees are picked up high and the feet are placed directly in front of each other. In fact, her big break came when Alexander McQueen selected her for his Spring 1998 show, noting her ability to walk in uncomfortably tall heels. He dubbed her “the Body” — a nickname that has stuck to this day, even though it was also legendary model Elle MacPherson’s title. In April 2015, Bündchen walked her last runway in Brazil for Colcci, ending her 20-year-long runway career where it had started: S?o Paulo Fashion Week. To celebrate the original Brazilian bombshell, whose versatility and charisma has allowed her to walk the runway for everyone from Marc Jacobs to Victoria’s Secret, here are Bündchen’s best runway moments.
