Surprisingly, Mariah Carey's Favorite Christmas Song Isn't Her Own
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey may have put out one of the best Christmas albums ever to exist, but her favorite seasonal tune is not one of her own.
The 54-year-old, who unofficially earned the title "Queen of Christmas," eagerly welcomes the holly-jolly season every year, and the past two years have seen Carey thaw out and declare, "It's time! [to turn up the Christmas music]."
But, apparently, the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" songstress isn't blasting her own holiday albums. Instead, she would rather listen to someone else's singing.
"My favorite all-time Christmas song is Nat King Cole's version of a 'Christmas Song,'" Carey told Jennifer Hudson while appearing on the latest episode of her talk show. "Yes, that's my favorite."
"That was my grandmother's favorite," Hudson replied. "The man with the satin voice," she added.
"Yes, but I don't let anybody listen to anything but Christmas music when I'm celebrating Christmas," Carey added. "That's it, they got to listen to that. The movies have to be Christmas related," she continued, revealing that her favorite Christmas movie is a tie between a few.
"Well, I love Elf," she shared. "I got to say that. And I like Miracle on 34th Street, the original one. It's an older one, but it's got something about it."
Elsewhere in the conversation, Hudson inquired about the number of Christmas trees Carey sets up for the holiday, and it's more than most.
"Oh, well, I don't want to make anybody feel left out 'cause we have a lot," Carey said. "Not a whole field, per se," she joked, "But in the main part of the house, there will be a nice tall Christmas tree with gold and silver...and then I have like a small multicolor lights tree like the Charlie Brown tree with some ornaments that my fans made for me and different stuff like that."
No wonder she starts decorating on November 1st!
