Swifties Found the Wildest Connection Between "The Albatross" and "Coney Island" That Could Be a Major Clue
Do you self identify as someone who loves a Taylor Swift Easter egg that borders on a conspiracy theory? Great, gather round. As you're obviously well aware, Taylor announced her latest Tortured Poets Department bonus track, "The Albatros"during her February 23 show in Sydney. (Side note: did you clock Taylor literally dressing as an albatross at the Grammys? 'Cause that happened.)

Meanwhile, fans managed to put a couple things together in a way that's either genius or far-fetched depending on how easter-egg-y you're feeling at the moment.
Turns out a fire was started (by an employee upset over ~unrequited love~) at The Albatross hotel on Coney Island in 1903 and it ended up burning down...the Bowery. Which, as we all know, is one half of the pseudonym (William Bowery) that Joe Alwyn used on the songs he wrote with Tay. Plus, there's the fact that Taylor and Joe were spotted at the Bowery Hotel when they first started dating.
taylor sang coney island after announcing the albatross... and guess what happened in coney island in 1903??? a fire that was started by one of the ALBATROSS hotel employees because of unrequited love at the west end of? THE BOWERY!!!!!!!!!!

Let's talk about this insanity. She sang Coney Island. Guess what happened in Coney Island in 1903? A fire that was started by one of the Albatross Hotel employees because of unrequited love at the west end of the Bowery. https://t.co/I4raYtme3Y pic.twitter.com/tCkrzkroJL

This is obviously adds more feul on the "'The Albatross' is about Joe Alwyn" fire—but there are other nuggets of "evidence" as well. Like the fact that Merriam-Webster defines an albatross as "something that causes persistent deep concern or anxiety" and "something that greatly hinders accomplishment."
"The word albatross is sometimes used metaphorically to mean a psychological burden that feels like a curse"

And the myth that an albatross flies for 6 years (the length of Taylor and Joe's relationship) without touching land.
the fact that the albatross spends their first 6 years of life over the ocean without landing is the duration of taylor and joe's relationship..
