Syracuse Boy Scouts earn honors at camp
Jul. 2—SYRACUSE — Four members of Syracuse Boy Scout Troop 728 attended Camp Chief Little Turtle Scout Camp June 24-28 and brought home a total of 10 merit badges.
Attending were Trent Ritter, Evan Scott, Nate Gillam and Bently Truman. In addition to merit badges, Ritter and Scott also achieved their Tenderfoot and Second Class ranks. The troop was also awarded the Commissioners Award for maintaining their campsite at Boy Scouts of America standards and winning first place in the Campsite Entrance competition.
While at camp, the boys participated in a wide variety of activities including the scouts vs. leaders shoot-off, target practice, swimming, fishing, star gazing and identifying constellations, operating drones, water slide, and commanded police dogs during a mock search and rescue operation.
Twenty Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews from across northeast Indiana attended Camp Chief Little Turtle located in Steuben County and operated by Anthony Wayne Area Council, BSA.
