When it comes to blemishes and other skincare concerns, I’ve always been pretty lucky. Even in my teenage years, I was blessed with small pores and a fairly clear complexion. My biggest issue has always been that my skin can feel a little on the dry side. So going into fall and winter, when both the temperatures and the humidity drop, I try to up my hydration game. Enter: my go-to moisturizer, Drunk Elephant’s Protini Polypeptide Cream.

This formula is as notable for what it includes (those titular peptides and pygmy waterlily stem cell extract to restore and revive skin) as what is missing (potentially irritating fragrances, dyes, and essential oils). Plus, it’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and wears nicely under makeup, making it an idea addition to a morning skincare routine—just don’t forget the SPF!

And while I don’t normally write home about product packaging as a reason to purchase one lotion over another, I do love Drunk Elephant’s no-mess, Instagram-worthy container, which keeps the product away from air and light (and germs).

All that said, the Protini is a bit pricey, so I’d recommend giving it a try in a smaller size before making the splurge. Fortunately, ahead of the holidays, the brand has a number of skincare sets available featuring smaller sizes of the moisturizer alongside other products. They’re a perfect to-me, from-me gift.
