Taco Bell Adds Limited Menu Item With a Cheesy Twist
Taco Bell has somehow managed to get even cheesier with its newest offering, hitting menus on Aug. 3 for a limited time.
Inspired by the Mexican dish known as birria—a meat stew with a variety of spices and rich flavors—the fast food restaurant is preparing to debut the Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, a grilled white corn shell stuffed with slow-braised shredded beef, creamy jalape?o sauce and a three-cheese blend with two dipping sauces: warm nacho cheese and a savory red.
"The rich and spicy flavors often found in birria were a major point of inspiration as we created the new Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco. By combining slow-braised shredded beef with the two dipping sauces, our fans can enjoy a new range of flavors they may have never had from Taco Bell before," Liz Matthews, Global Chief Food Innovation Officer at Taco Bell, said in a statement. "This Mexican-inspired dish represents an evolution of what fans typically expect from Taco Bell. We're excited to bring this menu item nationwide after an incredibly successful test in 2022."

The Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, available for $3.49, joins the Grilled Cheese Burrito on the grilled cheese-inspired subset of the menu. Are we the only ones getting hungry?
It also arrives alongside the Beefy Crunch Burrito, which is officially returning to the menu beginning next week. The fan-favorite dish was first introduced in 2010, disappearing the year after and popping in and out until 2018. Now, for the first time in five years, it'll be available—though once again, for a limited time. Rewards members will have the opportunity to order it two days earlier than everyone else, through the app on Aug. 1.
