Taco Bell Fans 'Cannot Wait to Try' New Summer Menu Item That Sold Out After 3 Days of Testing
Taco Bell fans are getting antsy as they await the arrival of a special new summer treat expected to land on menus sometime this summer.
The fast food chain first tested out its Mountain Dew Baja Blast Gelato, a treat inspired by Mountain Dew’s fan-favorite Baja Blast flavor, for a short time last summer at a Taco Bell location in Irvine, Calif.
Though food influencers at the time reported that the gelato would remain in the testing phase for an estimated two or three weeks, the treat quickly sold out within a few days, indicating customer approval and excitement about the test menu item.
A year later, customers still fondly remember that special treat—and now they are eagerly awaiting its nationwide rollout.
During a Live Mas Live event earlier this year, Taco Bell announced that it would add the Mountain Dew Baja Blast Gelato to its menus across the U.S. for a limited time starting at the end of this summer. Though a specific rollout date has yet to be announced, Snackolator said in a Thursday, July 4, Instagram post that the special summer treat is still on its way.
The food blogger said in the post that they have already had an opportunity to try out the special gelato flavor and “thought it was great.”
The gelato “had the Baja Blast taste and it was just pure fun and a perfect summer release,” Snackolator said in their brief review.
Fans who left comments on the post demanded more information about when the new menu item will hit stores.
“This should’ve been out.. summer bout over ??????,” one fan wrote.
“Why at the end of summer?!?” another fan wanted to know.
“Can’t wait!! I’ll take a freezer full! Lol,” one Instagram user commented.
While some Taco Bell fans left comments about other summer treats they want to see added to menus nationwide, many agreed that they are excited to try the Baja Blast gelato flavor once it arrives in stores.
“Cannot wait to try it!!!! Ahhhhhhh,” one person wrote as another agreed it “sounds so good.”
“I need it!!!” one Instagram user commented while another said they hope that Taco Bell will be able to “keep the stocks up” once the gelato is available.
