Tamera Mowry and Fox News' Adam Housley dealt with a lot of 'racial junk' before getting married
Tamera Mowry started acting as a teenager and was super famous — to a certain demographic, namely, teens — for her role on Sister, Sister. So before Adam Housley went on his first date with the actress, the Senior Fox News correspondent, who was in college when the hit show starring Mowry and her twin Tia Mowry was on air, had to look up Tamera on the internet.

“I had no idea who the heck she was, I just thought she was pretty,” Housley tells Yahoo Lifestyle. The pair were set up by their economics professor Robert Sexton from Pepperdine University after Housley noticed photos of Sexton’s favorite students on the wall near his desk. Lo and behold, there was Tamera. “Tia was on the wall too, my twin, but he pointed to my picture,” Mowry said.

But Tamera was focused on her career at the time and told Sexton to give Housley her email because “it’s easier to let down, because I don’t want a relationship right now.” However, Housley apparently sent one heck of an email. “I always say, ‘He got me with his words,'” Tamera said.

Their first date was at P. F. Changs on Jan. 1, 2005, and Housley knew that something was different from the very beginning. “I really loved who she was and I’m like, ‘This is someone I can see spending the rest of my life with,'” he recalls. But despite their shared admiration for each other, they had a lot of outside things get in their way, like dealing with “racial junk.” Tamera says, “It was when social media was taking off and it would come directly to us.”
Despite some challenges, the couple got married in 2011. And after throwing a glamorous dream wedding of her own, Tamera now hosts the Facebook Watch Series “Help Us Get Married!”

Tamera and Housley are now family of four, with daughter Ariah and son Aden. They continue to inspire each other in their personal lives and careers, and collaborate on projects as much as they can. Tamera gushes: “He’s my No. 1 supporter”
