Warmer weather on the horizon doesn’t mean that we have to trade in our comfy sweat sets for legging sets. While sweatpants and sweatshirts are appropriate year-round, sometimes they are a little too warm to wear in the nicer spring weather. Well, if you’re not looking to put on leggings and bra tops just yet, Target just dropped some new high-rise cropped sweatpants that are similar to Lululemon and Athleta sweats and great for spring (plus they have sweatshirts to match).
Target’s new Women's High-Rise Cropped Sweatpants by their women’s clothing brand, A New Day, are only $20 and are a great length for weather that’s just warming up. They’re made with a terry cotton fabric blend which also includes recycled cotton and recycled polyester. Target’s site says it’s a “midweight fabric” and doesn’t have too much stretch (but it does have an elastic waistband). The sweatpants are a wide-leg style with a casual fit, similar to Wild Fable’s full-length baggy sweatpants we reported on in February.
The sweatpants come in three bright colors that are spring-ready: bright pink, yellow (which is neon and more on the green side) and light green (which is more of a pale mint or sage green). It also comes in a wide range of sizes from XS to 4X.

Reviews for Target’s high-rise cropped sweatpants are also pretty great. Reviewers called them "cute and comfy" and "definitely roomy," meaning that if you want them to fit tighter, maybe size down. One reviewer says that they’re “cute and comfortable” and they of course “love the pockets.”
"I can dress them up for work with a cute top or wear with gym shoes and a t-shirt on the weekends!” they wrote. “Great price. I wish they came in some neutral colors, too."
And if you love the (neon or bright) monochromatic look, the matching sweatshirt from Target is a plus. Target’s Women's French Terry Sweatshirt by A New Day is $25 and has the same fabric and colors as the high-rise cropped sweatpants. What’s nice about these, too, is their sleeve length. Just like the cropped length of the pants being great for moving from winter to spring, these sweatshirts have cropped arms as well. Target calls them “long balloon sleeves” and they seem to land in the middle of the forearm.
Reviews for the sweatshirt are also promising. One person wrote that they loved the fit, the “soft material” and the “loose sleeves that can roll up easily.” Another wrote that it’s “light enough” in material to wear in late winter/pre-spring (they also bought two of the three colors).
"Cute and comfy! Definitely fits oversized. I ordered a size up but could have gone with my true size,” another reviewer wrote. “Not too heavy so it’s perfect for spring…"

Of course, one perk of these sweatpants is that they’re a lower-priced product that is similar to a more expensive one. For instance, Target’s cropped sweatpants are similar to Lululemon’s Softstreme High-Rise Straight-Leg Cropped Pant, which cost $118. They’re straight-legged and not wide-legged but they have a cropped length and are made of a soft material (also with recycled polyester).
Then, there is Athleta’s Seasoft Straight Crop Pant. They’re slightly less expensive than Lululemon at $89, but still over four times the price of Target’s. Athleta’s cropped sweatpants are not as wide-legged but still have that loose-leg look. They’re made with polyester and spandex to create a “smooth” fabric.

More expensive sweatpants might feel more luxurious, but you can’t beat sweatpants that are just as cute (and a portion of the price). For $20 and with a $25 matching sweatshirt, Target’s cropped sweatpants are a win for the loungewear lovers out there.
Next up, Target is selling 4-way stretch bodysuits and they're so similar to SKIMS bodysuits.
