Sacha Baron Cohen Crowned Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical at Golden Globes

They all managed to make us laugh, but there can be only one winner.

Tonight, Hollywood’s biggest stars virtually gathered for the 2021 Golden Globes. During the 78th annual ceremony, Sacha Baron Cohen won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

The actor beat out a majorly stacked category, including James Corden for The Prom (played Barry Glickman), Lin-Manuel Miranda for Hamilton (played Alexander Hamilton), Dev Patel for The Personal History of David Copperfield (played David Copperfield) and Andy Samberg for Palm Springs (played Nyles).

The Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) has been around since the ’40s, though it was originally combined with the Drama category. Previous winners include Taron Egerton for Rocketman, Christian Bale for Vice, James Franco for The Disaster Artist, Ryan Gosling for La La Land, Matt Damon for The Martian, Michael Keaton for Birdman, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street, Hugh Jackman for Les Misérables, Jean Dujardin for The Artist and Paul Giamatti for Barney’s Version.

Jack Lemmon currently holds the record for most nominations in this category, with a total of ten nods. He’s followed by Johnny Depp (nine), Walter Matthau (eight) and Dustin Hoffman (six).

Somebody get Cohen a glass of Champagne. He seriously deserves it.
