What is Taylor-Con and Is Taylor Swift Involved?
Swifties unite! Not only is the Eras Tour resuming this year, but a convention with Taylor Swift-themed events is also happening. The two-day gathering—which the Grammy winner is not affiliated with—was originally titled "Taylor-Con," but is now being billed as the "Celebration and Dance Party." Explaining the name change, the event page noted that "about a month after we got the ball rolling, the name TAYLOR-CON was trademarked by Taylor's team," adding, "That was both VERY exciting for us (we hope she has an official TAYLOR-CON planned, because then we can ALL go to it!) and also very concerning here."
While it's no longer dubbed Taylor-Con, the event, "in an effort to continue the spirit without invoking the trademarks," is keeping the same schedule, but "removing the catchy references."

What is Taylor-Con?
TMZ reported on Feb. 1 that TAS Rights Management, LLC had filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark "TAYLOR-CON." Guitar picks, fan club services and "arranging, organizing, conducting and hosting social entertainment events" are among the goods and services that the "applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services."
That prompted some fans to assume that perhaps Taylor Swift herself was behind the so-called Taylor-Con event being planned in Dallas. However, that was not the case. That event is now known as the Celebration and Dance Party and tickets are no longer available.
