Taylor Lautner Doubles Down on ‘Pray for John' Mayer Message

After news broke that Speak Now would be Taylor Swift's next rerecording, Taylor Lautner was quick with a joke about the subject matter of the album—himself.

There are several songs speculated to be about his former relationship with the superstar—mainly "Back to December" and "The Story of Us"—but he's not terribly worried about the press he may receive when Taylor's version of the tracks drop.

When Today asked the Twilight alum about his feelings surrounding the impending release, Lautner, 31, laughed, admitting that he thinks he's "safe."

"I think it's a great album," he said. "Yeah, I feel safe."

But there's one ex-boyfriend who also—allegedly—shares the spotlight on Swift's third studio album: John Mayer.

"Dear John" is a deeply vulnerable track that seems to detail an extremely emotionally abusive relationship, which has led many of Swift's fans on a crusade against Mayer, leading Lautner to joke, "Praying for John," after affirming his own security over the upcoming release.

Many of Swift's fans thought the comment was a joke spread by someone else, delighted to find that Lautner himself had actually made it. Now, the actor is doubling down on his viral comment, as seen in a video uploaded on his wife's TikTok account today, May 17, with no caption other than the hashtag #prayforjohn.

Taylor Lautner—yes! They're all named Taylor—was certainly the videographer, and possibly even the director, for the hysterical new upload, which featured her hubby stepping into frame in what looks like a hotel room, wearing a white robe as "Dear John" plays in the background.

Lautner falls slowly to his knees, his hands raising up in a prayer motion. He bends his head forward and remains frozen before then raising his hands in somewhat of a shrug.

Swifties absolutely lost it over the bit, flooding the comments with praise.

"Literally incredible I’m dying ??," one wrote.

"You’re so real for this bestie," commented someone else.

"Taylor knowing he's the best ex ??," said another.

"taylor in his unhinged era????????????," read another reply.

"Dear John (Taylor’s Version) (Taylor’s Version)," another joked.

Even Spotify commented, admitting, "truly had to look at this account 8 different times to make sure this was real??."

Rest assured, through all of the shock, it is in fact real!
